Genetrix is an adjunct in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV) especially if sustained by coliforms. The use of the specific adherent mucus gelling agent guar gum is able to rapidly establish, through the formation of a hydrogel directly in the vagina and after a few minutes from the disintegration of the tablet, a mechanical barrier effect against potential vaginal pathogens. Furthermore, thanks to its mucoadherent properties, guar gum is able to guarantee a beneficial hydrolubrication of the vagina. Furthermore, the presence of the two specific probiotic microorganisms Lactobacillus plantarum LP02 and Lactobacillus acidophilus LA02, rebalances the vaginal microflora by restoring the "Doderlein complex" thus further reinforcing the aforementioned barrier effect with mechanisms that prove to be ancillary to the gelling agent. In addition to the lowering of the vaginal pH by the organic acids produced by the two microorganisms, in fact, the synthesis of specific bacteriolysins by the L. Plantarum LP02 strain contributes to a particular extent to the formation and maintenance of a vaginal microenvironment which is unfavorable to establishment, spread or persistence of a bacterial infection. The presence of the two prebiotic fibers fructo-oligosaccharides and arabinogalactan provides a selective nourishment for the microorganisms of the vaginal flora (Doderlein complex) and the probiotics present in Genetrix thus favoring the colonization capacity of the vaginal ecosystem, shortening the time necessary for its effectiveness. It can also be used in vaginosis and vulvar itching that require the restoration of normal vaginal microflora.
Considering that lactobacilli are habitual non-pathogenic hosts of the vagina, and that the species Lactobacillus Plantarum and Lactobacillus Acidophilus are included in the list of species with a Qualified Presumption of Safety (QPS), prepared by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA, Scientific Opinion on the maintenance of the list of QPS biological agents_2010 update), Genetrix can also be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Dosage and instructions for use
One tablet a day, to be applied as deeply as possible into the vagina, preferably in the evening before bedtime, for the first week of treatment, then continue, for prophylactic purposes, with 1 tablet per week for the next 21 days, unless otherwise prescribed. medical. To maintain the vaginal barrier effect in the long term, it is recommended to continue the treatment with the application of 1 tablet per week for the following 10 weeks, as there are no contraindications in a longer use of Genetrix.
