Algisite M Sterile Dressing Based On Calcium Alginate 5x5 cm 10 Pieces

Algisite M is the only calcium alginate-based dressing that gels quickly, has a high fiber content of mannuronic acid, obtained with an industrial process that produces a soft and conformable dressing with reduced fiber release and high integrity when wet. Algisite M forms a soft gel when in contact with wound exudate and absorbs excess exudate. Algisite M utilizes the well-known benefits of moist healing, accelerating the healing of difficult wounds.
Highly absorbent.
In vitro studies have shown that Algisite M can absorb exudate up to 10 times its weight. This allows the dressing to remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on the nature of the wound.
Easy to remove.
When used on moderately to highly exuding wounds, the dressing forms a soft gel that does not adhere to the delicate wound granulation tissue. The dressing can be easily removed in one piece, or washed off with saline.
Moist environment on the wound.
The formation of the gel as a consequence of the action of the exudate with the alginate fibers creates a moist environment on the surface. This prevents eschar formation and promotes rapid healing. The dressing allows the wound to contract and also allows the gas exchanges necessary for healing.
It conforms to the contours of the wound
Algisite M is very soft and conformable and allows it to be adapted, folded or cut according to the size and shape of the wound. Thanks to the formation of the gel, intimate contact with the wound is maintained.
Reduced fiber release.
All alginate-based dressings when handled release fibers, thanks to the particular production process this risk is enormously reduced.

Indications
Partial or full thickness, moderately to highly exuding wounds (e.g. pressure sores, leg ulcers, diabetic and ischemic ulcers, postoperative wounds, and fungiform carcinomas). Algisite M can be used on clinically infected wounds under medical supervision and treated with appropriate therapy.

How to use
Cleanse the wound according to normal procedures. Choose a size of Algisite M that is slightly larger than the wound and place it in direct contact with the wound bed, making sure the wound is covered by the dressing. Use Algisite M in “tape” format if the wound is deep or undermined. Apply the dressing using an appropriate technique. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing. Wound exudate will evaporate from the gelled surface; the secondary dressing should not hinder this process especially if the exudate is abundant.

Replacement frequency
Generally, the dressing must be replaced every day in case of highly exuding wounds and then switch to less frequent changes (1 or 2 times a week) as healing proceeds.

Contraindications
Make sure that the Algisite M swab is inserted into the cavity, sinus etc. be removed. Do not use on patients with known allergy to alginates.

Warnings
Algisite M cannot be reused.
Do not use if package is open or damaged.
