It is indicated to integrate nutrition into the excessive production of ROS (reactive oxygen species) more commonly known as free radicals. Free radicals are highly reactive and unstable oxygen molecules, which can cause damage to DNA, cell structures and tissues. Exposure to heat, radiation, environmental pollution, alcohol intake, strenuous physical activity, inadequate nutrition, non-tolerated foods, cigarette smoking, certain medications, processes inflammatory, can promote the production of ROS. The action of free radicals has been associated with the onset of heart disease, tumors, cataracts, arthritis, neurodegenerative diseases.
The use of antioxidants can reduce the damage caused by free radicals.

OWNERSHIP OF COMPONENTS
Curcuma longa:
Contains curcuminoids, cyclocurcumin, turmenol a and b, tumerina, polysaccharides. The properties are due to curcuminoids: anti-inflammatory, antiviral and general detoxifier and in particular of the liver, acting on the serum levels of got, gpt. Turmeric is attributed a powerful antioxidant activity, in particular turmenol a and b prevents the auto-oxidation of linoleic acid, a fatty acid which is part of the cell membrane structure. The anti-inflammatory activity has been highlighted in both acute and chronic inflammations.
Quercetin:
Quercetin is an antioxidant bioflavonoid known for its high ability to fight free radicals by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes and thus reducing the production of the main inflammatory mediators: histamine, bradykinin and PGE2. Quercetin also inhibits the production of histamine by stabilizing the basophils and is therefore effective in the treatment of allergic diseases, in particular it has a direct action on the mucous membranes of the intestinal tract, reducing reactions to food allergens. A longitudinal study of 809 men followed for 5 years (Lancet, 23 Oct 1993; 342: 1007-11) shows that high consumption of Quercetin reduces overall cardiovascular risk by one third.
Poligonum cuspidatum:
Poligonum is one of the richest sources of resveratrol. Known since ancient times and fully used as a laxative herb, today it has assumed significant importance precisely due to the high concentration of resveratrol present in the roots. In fact, more and more numerous are the findings that the intake of compounds with antioxidant activity is associated with a reduction in the risk of onset of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases. In particular, there are many studies supporting the beneficial effects for the body of resveratrol, now considered one of the most powerful antioxidants. Resveratrol is a compound that occurs naturally in many plant-based food products, such as red grapes and peanuts; it is also found in some plants, of which the Poligonum cuspidatum, or Japanese knotweed, or Japanese honeysuckle, is the elective source coming to contain quantities even 400 times higher than those of grapes. Resveratrol inhibits the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, as well as platelet aggregation and at the same time reduces the level of cholesterol and triglycerides; induces a vasodilating effect on the arterial system. Pharmacological studies have highlighted other mechanisms for resveratrol: one of the most interesting is the phytoestrogenic action, which takes place both by simulating the action of endogenous estrogens and by competing with the cellular receptors of these hormones; these effects are useful for the protection of women from cardiovascular diseases resulting from the hormonal imbalances of menopause. It should be emphasized the importance of natural and standardized sources of resveratrol for the presence of the phytocomplex and for the different biological activity of the isomers of the molecule: it has been observed that trans-resveratrol, that is the one naturally present in the Poligonum plant, is the isomer bioactive unlike cis-resveratrol which does not have the same biological properties.
Camelia sinensis:
Contains polyphenols (tannins), proteins, flavonoids (quercetin, quercitrin, etc.); amino acids; sterols, vit C; essential oil, theobromine, theophylline. Tannins (epicatechol, epigallocatechol) decrease cholesterolemia in guinea pigs fed a diet rich in cholesterol and lipids, with a better ratio between HDL and LDL cholesterol. It seems that polyphenols are able to increase the rate of adrenaline, which is responsible for the increase in lipolysis, with consequent consumption of lipids (this is the property for which green tea is used in slimming therapies); the effect of reducing blood fats also seems to be due to saponins, which by binding to the cholesterol contained in foods prevent it from entering the bloodstream. Catechin limits the activity of ace, an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of angiotensin 2, a substance that has a strong hypertensive action. It can therefore be useful for those with hypertension. Catechin also inhibits the predisposition of platelets to clot, with an effect similar to that of aspirin. The hypocholesterolemic, hypertensive, antiplatelet properties, attribute to green tea a preventive action against cardiocirculatory disorders. In rodents, epigallo-catechin gallate has proved effective in inhibiting the development of cancer caused by nitrosamines, showing anticancer and antimutagenic action, the antioxidant activity carried out by polyphenols (catechins) also contributes to these actions than that carried out by vitamin E. The polyphenols are inhibitors of lipid peroxidation at the level of the mitochondria, they have an anti-free radical action helping to slow down cellular degeneration.
Vitis vinifera:
Rich in tannins, levulose, inositol, flavonoids, quercetin and quercitrin, malic acid, acetic acid, succinic acid, carotene, choline, glutamine, the plant has long been known for having a valid phleboprotective, venotonic and capillar protective action. This is an activity carried out at the microcirculation level thanks to the action of anthocyanosides: decrease in the permeability of capillaries and increase in their resistance. It is used in functional and clinical manifestations affecting the venous system, in particular venous insufficiency of the lower limbs, capillary fragility, hemorrhoids and, as an adjunct to drug therapies, in phlebitis; favors the biological activity of vit. C and stimulates the activity of the enzymatic systems involved in the synthesis of collagen. This plant also has a valid action against free radicals and is particularly indicated for the prevention of chronic degenerative diseases and skin aging processes.
