Selenium is an essential trace element, a constituent of numerous selenoproteins (proteins containing selenium) which have enzymatic, structural, transport and storage roles for the body. In OLIGO SEL PLUS selenium is present as selenomethionine, a form absorbed efficiently in the intestine.
Selenium contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress: it is a fundamental constituent of the antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and thioredoxin reductase used physiologically by our body to counteract the harmful action of free radicals. It also supports normal thyroid function, as some key selenium-containing enzymes are involved in the activation and regulation of thyroid enzymes. The support that selenium can provide in spermatogenesis derives from its presence in the selenoproteins responsible for the integrity and motility of spermatozoa. Finally, selenium supports the maintenance of healthy nails and hair as well as a functional immune system.
Oligo-Sel-Plus Indications
Selenium chelate in association with methionine for greater bioavailability. It is known that selenium, being a constituent of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, helps to reduce the potential toxicity of heavy metals frequently present in the environment such as mercury and cadmium. Selenium also increases the antioxidant effects of vitamin E. It is an important mineral for the function of the immune system and is necessary for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. In a clinical study, selenium supplementation resulted in an improvement in sperm motility in men with fertility problems. The need for selenium in heavy smokers is greater.
Dosage and method of use
Swallow 1/2 tablet a day, with water, preferably with a meal.

Do not exceed the recommended dose. Keep out of the reach of children under 3 years of age. Supplements are not intended as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
