Froben Fatty Cough Syrup 4 mg/5 ml Bromhexine 250 ml

Syrup for oily cough that contains the active ingredient bromhexine hydrochloride.

Therapeutic indications

Froben Cough Fat is a syrup indicated in the symptomatic treatment of oily cough and secretion disorders during acute and chronic respiratory diseases (such as bronchitis). Bromhexine is a substance capable of thinning the mucus that stagnates in the respiratory tract. This favors the expulsion of mucus from the respiratory tract and consequently makes breathing easier.

Dosage and posology

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults : the recommended dose is 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) 3 times a day. Your doctor may decide to increase your dose at the start of treatment.
Children over 2 years of age: The recommended dose in children over 2 years of age is half a teaspoon / 1 teaspoon (2.5–5 ml) 3 times a day.

Take the medicine after meals. Avoid exceeding the recommended doses and taking this medicine for long periods. If you do not notice any improvement or if you notice your symptoms worsening after a short period of treatment, please contact your doctor. This medicine can be taken by children over 2 years and by diabetics because it does not contain fructose and sucrose.

Overdose

If you (or someone else) have ingested too much syrup, or if you think a child has swallowed the medicine, consult a doctor immediately. In case of accidental ingestion / intake of an excessive dose of Froben Cough Fat, notify your doctor immediately or contact the nearest hospital emergency department. Take this leaflet, the bottle and its container with you to the hospital or doctor so they know which medicine has been used.

Contraindications

Do not take Froben Fatty Cough:

• if you are allergic to bromhexine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
• if you suffer from stomach or intestinal ulcer
• if you are breast-feeding
• if the person who is to take the medicine is a child under 2 years of age

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The side effects reported with the use of Froben Cough Fat are:

• Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): hypersensitivity reactions; rash, hives.
• Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): anaphylactic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, angioedema (rapidly developing swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissues, mucosa and submucosal tissues) and pruritus; severe skin adverse reactions (including erythema multiforme, Steven Johnson syndrome / toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis), diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach and bowel upset; obstruction of the bronchi; difficulty in breathing.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

• Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, take this medicine only after consulting your doctor.

• Feeding time

Do not take Froben Cough Fat while breastfeeding as bromhexine passes into breast milk.

Special warnings

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Froben Cough Fat. Avoid taking this medicine for prolonged periods. After a short period of treatment without noticeable results, consult your doctor. Cases of severe skin reactions associated with bromhexine administration have been reported. If you get a skin rash (including lesions of mucous membranes such as mouth, throat, nose, eyes, genitals), stop taking Froben Cough Fat and contact your doctor immediately. For those who carry out sports: this preparation contains ethyl alcohol and can determine a positive anti-doping test. Froben Cough Fat is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age because it can cause obstruction of the bronchi. Contains sorbitol and ethanol (alcohol) This medicine contains sorbitol. It may have a mild laxative effect. Caloric value 2.6 kcal / g of sorbitol. The product contains 3.7 vol% ethanol. One serving can contain up to 0.6 g of ethanol per serving equivalent to 15.2 ml of beer and 6.3 ml of wine per serving. Harmful for those patients suffering from alcoholism. To be taken into consideration in pregnant or lactating women, children and high-risk groups such as people with liver disease or epilepsy.

Expiry and retention

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. After the first opening of the bottle, the product must be consumed within 9 months, if the product is stored at a temperature below 25 ° C; after this period the excess product must be eliminated. Remember to note the date of first opening on the package. Do not throw any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.

Warning : do not use the medicine after the expiry date indicated on the package.

Excipients

Tartaric acid, benzoic acid, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, glycerol, liquid sorbitol, ethanol (96%), all fruit flavor, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
