The acai (pronounced assaì) is a palm of the Euterpe genus that grows mainly in the rainforests of south-central America. The fruit, which consists of a berry, is consumed as a food in particular by the indigenous peoples of Brazil, Colombia and Suriname, and used by traditional medicine to treat ffib bre , pain and flu.
