Long Life OKG is a supplement based on ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate: a salt formed by two molecules of free ornithine and one molecule of alpha-ketoglutarate. The actions of OKG (ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate) are to be attributed to the metabolites that compose it: L-arginine, L-glutamine, L-proline and polyamine. The metabolism of L-glutamine and L-arginine is impaired following trauma and this is linked to immune system dysfunctions. Ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate, in addition to modifying the metabolism of amino acids, increases the levels of insulin in the blood. OKG increases glutamine synthesis with a consequent increase in the fatigue threshold, since glutamine is a glucogenic amino acid.
