INDICATIONS
Anthelmintic for dogs and cats, with specific effect against cestodiadults and immature intestinal forms. It is effective against: Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia ovis, Taenia pisiformis, Taenia hydatigena, Mesocestoides corti, Hydatigera (Taenia) taeniaeformis, Taenia multiceps, Diphyllobothrium (Spirometra) erinacei. Echinococcus granulosus: the dog, carrier of echinococcus disease, infests through sheep, cattle or pigs and can also transmit echinococcosis to humans (hydatidosis, cystic form), a serious social disease of regions with sheep farming. The therapeutic and / or prophylactic intervention with Droncit (possibly programmed on a large scale) interrupts the biological cycle of the parasite and avoids transmission to humans.
CONTRAINDICATIONS / SECONDARY EFFECT
Do not administer in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not administer to dogs weighing less than 2.5 kg.
USE / ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
Oral.
DOSAGE
5 mg / kg body weight equal to 1 tablet up to 10 kg body weight; 2 tablets of 11 to 20 kg; 3 tablets from 21 to 30 Kg. Against Diphyllobothrium (Spirometra) the dose of one tablet for 2.5 Kg body weight is necessary. The medicine is tolerated very well. The treatment must be carried out fasting and the animals must be kept under control immediately after administration in order to be able to repeat the treatment in case of any rejection of the tablets. Droncit can be administered directly or wrapped in meat, or crushed into food.
STORAGE
This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
WARNINGS
Fleas act as intermediate hosts and are therefore a source for Dipylidium infestation. To avoid reinfestation, fleas must be eliminated from the animal and from shelters. It is necessary to collect and destroy the faeces emitted by dogs in the 24 hours following the treatment. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: For the purpose of proper hygiene, the person administering the product should wash their hands after use. Overdose: In adult animals, doses up to 10 times the recommended dose (5 mg / kg bodyweight) are generally well tolerated.
