It increases the number of immune cells helping to prevent infections and increasing intestinal immunity. Effective in counteracting the side effects of chemotherapy.
AHCC is confirmed to be a non-toxic and safe food product by numerous in vitro and in vivo clinical studies. Genotoxicity was tested by reverse mutation and micronucleosis tests, single dose oral toxicity and 90 day repeat dose oral toxicity were tested in rodents and a Phase I clinical trial was conducted in healthy subjects.
Additionally, AHCC is a mushroom compound with a history of human consumption. In addition, many hundreds of thousands of people have used AHCC with no reports of its toxicity or side effects since its introduction in 1989.
NK Life AHCC is a monosaccharide produced from shiitake mushroom mycelium grown in rice bran extract. Rice bran itself has antiviral and immune system support properties. The AHCC was developed in 1987 at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Tokyo by Dr. Toshihiko Okamoto. AHCC is extracted from the threads that form the mycelium of mushrooms grown in a precultivation tank. The mushroom colonies are then grown in the main culture tank for an additional forty-five days.
AHCC is obtained through a patented process of culture, enzymatic decomposition, sterilization, concentration and cryodrying.
Among the main components of AHCC is also partially acetylated a-glucan, which is known for its beneficial effects on the immune system. One of the advantages of the fermentation process is linked to the splitting of nutrients into a form that is more easily absorbed by the body. AHCC has a molecular weight of only 5,000 daltons. The molecular weight of most fungal extracts is hundreds of thousands of daltons. Such a low molecular weight increases the effectiveness of the nutrients that are, in this way, absorbed and used, without eliminating any. Furthermore, all this ensures that the powerful nutrients contained in AHCC are rapidly assimilated by the white blood cells to be immediately used to strengthen the immune system. For this reason AHCC is considered a superfood.
The acronym AHCC stands for Active Hexose Correlated Compound. Developed in the late 1980s as a natural agent for regulating blood pressure, researchers soon observed its beneficial effects on the immune system. AHCC has been used as an adjunct in the treatment of some of the chronic diseases. The AHCC has been widely publicized in Japan in hundreds of newspapers, magazines and scientific publications.
