Characteristics
CITRUS SINENSIS: flavonoids extracted directly from citrus fruits influence the potential of the intestinal microbiome and increase the barrier function of the intestine, acting on the now famous intestinal permeability syndrome (leaky gut syndrome).

Citrus sinensis extract is particularly concentrated in hesperidin, which is one of the most studied flavonoids to fight intestinal permeability and inflammation.

A clinical study carried out in the Netherlands at the Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC) studied the benefits of Citrus on the composition of the intestinal microbiome and demonstrated that:

• a strong tendency to decrease in faecal calprotectin, reflecting the decrease in the pathogenic bacterial load and inflammation.
• a significant change on the composition of short chain fatty acids (SCFA), in fact it increased the proportion of butyrate, compared to acetate, on the total SCFA. This is a direct consequence of the positive change in the gut microbiome.

ACACIA CATECHU:
Belonging to the Papilionacae family, it grows luxuriantly in Africa and Australia.

In these countries it is traditionally used as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory astringent. Recent medical studies have evaluated its efficacy as a bifidogenic prebiotic, i.e. capable of selectively stimulating the growth of the genus Bifidobacterium.
