Therapeutic indications

Cetilsan sugar-free lozenges, Cetilsan mouthwash Disinfection of the oral mucosa. Cetilsan cutaneous solution Disinfection of even damaged skin, wounds, grazes, cuts and skin lesions. The product can be used in the disinfection of objects.

Dosage

Cetilsan sugar-free tablets One tablet every 3–4 hours, to be dissolved slowly in the mouth, with a maximum of 6 tablets per day. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Cetilsan mouthwash 1 - 2 tablespoons diluted in half a glass of water for rinsing and gargling, every 3 - 4 hours. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Cetilsan cutaneous solution Cleanse the affected area with a cotton swab soaked in Cetilsan cutaneous solution, or pour a little product on the lesion and apply a sterile gauze soaked in Cetilsan cutaneous solution. Repeat the application 2 or 3 times a day if necessary. For the disinfection of objects: use Cetilsan pure cutaneous solution, as needed.

Overdose

Symptoms of intoxication resulting from the ingestion of significant quantities of the active ingredient include nausea, vomiting, dyspnoea, cyanosis, asphyxia resulting from paralysis of the respiratory muscles, central nervous system depression, hypotension and coma. In humans, the estimated lethal dose is approx. 1 –3 g / kg. Treatment is symptomatic: administer soothing, if necessary. Avoid emesis and gastric lavage.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Cetilsan sugar-free tablets Not to be used in children under 12 years, unless otherwise prescribed. Cetilsan mouthwash Not to be used in children under 6 years of age.

Side effects

Cetilsan cutaneous solution Local intolerance (burning or irritation) may occur in some cases. Cetilsan sugar-free lozenges - Cetilsan mouthwash During clinical studies the following were sporadically reported: transient irritation of the gums, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, stomatitis, taste disturbance, mild tooth discoloration, allergic dermatitis. Local intolerance (burning or irritation) may occur in some cases.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The product is a disinfectant for local use. Cetilsan cutaneous solution There are no contraindications for use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Cetilsan sugar-free lozenges - Cetilsan mouthwash There are no data from the use of cetylpyridinium chloride in pregnant women. In pregnant and breastfeeding women, the medicine should be administered in case of real need and under the direct supervision of the doctor.

Special warnings

Do not use for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment without noticeable results, consult your doctor. The accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. Avoid contact with eyes. Cetilsan cutaneous solution The product is for external use only. The use, especially if prolonged, of products for topical use can give rise to sensitization phenomena: in this case, interrupt the treatment and consult the doctor, to establish a suitable therapy. The product must not be placed in contact with the eyes, the brain, the meninges, the middle ear. It must not be used for the disinfection of mucous cavities (washing, irrigation). Do not expose the treated part to direct sunlight after applying the product. Cetilsan 3 mg sugar-free tablets Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine.
