Eofolin Folic Acid Supplement 30 Tablets

Eofolin is a food supplement of folic acid, or folacin, and vitamin B12, necessary in cases where there is a deficiency or if the need for it is increased such as during pregnancy and breastfeeding or in the case of malabsorption.

Indications

Eofolin is a folic acid supplement indicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, during estrogen therapy, and before conception. In any case when the level of folic acid is deficient. Vitamin B9, or folic acid, is necessary for the well-being of the cells. In fact, when this is not produced sufficiently by the organism, it must be introduced through the diet. When this does not happen, or occurs insufficiently, it is useful to resort to a supplement.

Folic acid in pregnancy: what it is for

Folic acid or folate is involved in the synthesis of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and in the metabolism of some amino acids. It is necessary for the growth of new cells and for the development of the embryo, it helps to reduce the risk of congenital malformations in the child and also in adults it is essential for the best use of iron. Together with vitamins B6 and B12 it is involved in the metabolism of homocysteine. Natural sources of folic acid are offal, legumes, tomatoes and oranges. Several studies have revealed a close relationship in pregnant women between low levels of folic acid in the blood and the presence of neural tube defects (NTDs) in the child. This term identifies malformations of the central nervous system of the developing embryo. The neural tube is in fact the structure from which the skull, the brain, the vertebral column and the spinal cord are formed. For development to be normal, this structure must close within 30 days of conception; if this does not happen, part of the brain or spinal cord remains uncovered and the fetus undergoes serious malformations. We then speak, according to the cases, of anencephaly, cephalocele, spina bifida. It has been shown that the daily intake of folic acid during pregnancy is able to reduce the occurrence of anomalies in the embryonic nervous system by 50-70%.

For 1 tablet: bulking agents; biphasic calcium phosphate; microcrystalline cellulose, anti-caking agent: magnesium stearate, cyanocobalamin 2.5 mcg, tit. 0.3% (cyanocobalamin; malto dextrin, acidifier, citric acid; trisose citrate), anti-caking agents: talc, silicon dioxide, folic acid 400 mcg.
