It works through alginate which, thanks to its ability to absorb water, swells in contact with gastric juices, forming a mechanical barrier that is positioned at the level of the pit of the stomach and prevents the rise of acidic material towards the esophagus. It also contains simethicone which forms a protective film on the stomach and eliminates the gas it contains.
