Syrup for oral use based on dried liquid extract of the roots of Pelargoniumsidoides (1: 8 -10).

Therapeutic indications

Kaloba Syrup is a traditional herbal medicine indicated for the relief of the common cold. The use of this traditional herbal medicine, for the indicated therapeutic indications, is based exclusively on the experience of many years of use.

Dosage and posology

  • Adults and adolescents (12-18 years) 7.5 ml of syrup (corresponding to 20 mg of pelargonium extract) 3 times a day (in the morning, at noon and in the evening).
  • Children aged 6-12 years: 5 ml of syrup (corresponding to approximately 13 mg of dried liquid extract of pelargonium) 3 times a day (in the morning, at noon and in the evening).

Kaloba Syrup should not be given to children under 6 years of age due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy. The maximum duration of treatment is 7 days. See your doctor if your cold symptoms don't improve within a week.

How to use

The measuring cup attached to the package has several calibration marks. The syrup can be drunk directly from the dispenser or transferred to a spoon.

Overdose

Overdose could increase the frequency of occurrence and / or the intensity of undesirable effects. Treatment of overdose should be symptomatic. In case of accidental intake of an excessive dose of Kaloba Syrup, notify your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital. If you have any questions about the use of Kaloba, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Kaloba Syrup is contraindicated in case of:

  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
  • Tendency to bleed
  • Taking drugs that inhibit clotting
  • Severe liver and kidney disease, as there is insufficient experience in these cases
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Children under the age of 6

Side effects

Like all medicines, Kaloba can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Assessment of adverse reactions is based on the following information regarding frequency:

  • Gastrointestinal disorders: Uncommon: stomach pain, heartburn, nausea or diarrhea. Rare: mild gingival bleeding.
  • Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Rare: slight nasal bleeding.
  • Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders / Immune system disorders: Rare: hypersensitivity reaction (type-I reactions with rash, hives, itching of the skin and mucous membranes; type-II reactions with formation of antibodies). Very rare: severe hypersensitivity reactions with swelling of the face, dyspnoea and drop in blood pressure.
  • Hepatobiliary disorders: Very rare: impaired liver function; the causal link between this finding and the use of the product has not been demonstrated. Compliance with the instructions contained in the package leaflet reduces the risk of undesirable effects.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Consult your doctor before taking any medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The safety of Kaloba during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Therefore, the use of Kaloba during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated.

Special warnings

If during the administration of Kaloba you notice: symptoms of liver problems; fever that lasts for several days; tachypnea (difficulty breathing) or hemoptysis (blood in the spit); Treatment with Kaloba Syrup should be stopped immediately and your doctor consulted.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently taken any other medicines, even those without a prescription. Due to the possible influence on coagulation parameters, and the drug may increase the effects of anticoagulant drugs taken concomitantly such as phenprocoumon and warfarin.

Since Kaloba Syrup solution is a natural product, slight variations in color and taste may occur.

Expiry and retention

Check the expiration date indicated on the package. The expiry date indicated on the package refers to the product in intact packaging, correctly stored. Shelf life after first opening the bottle is 6 months. After this period, the residual medicinal product must be discarded.

Active principle

Dried dried liquid extract of the roots of Pelargonium sidoides (1: 8 - 10) 0.250 g. The extracting agent is 11% (w / w) ethanol.

Excipients

Maltodextrin, xylitol, glycerol 85%, anhydrous citric acid, potassium sorbate, xanthan gum, purified water.
