Food supplement based on red rice fermented with Monascus purpureus (red yeast), Coenzyme Q10, policosanols and Niacin.

Also known as lovastatin, it is the statin contained in Monascus purpureus fermented red rice. It is effective in controlling total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in hypercholesterolemic subjects and acts by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, responsible for the endogenous synthesis of cholesterol. As part of a globally controlled diet, the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 10 mg.
Policosanols
A mixture of long-chain primary aliphatic alcohols isolated from the wax of sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.). By a different mechanism than statins, policosanols reduce plasma cholesterol levels not by activating HMG-CoA reductase, but by reducing synthesis. Like statins, they inhibit lipoprotein peroxidation in hypercholesterolemic patients in vitro. Antiplatelet effects have also been observed
Niacin
Nicotic acid or vitamin B3, contributes to the control of LDL cholesterol and plasma triglyceride levels (by inhibiting hepatic lipolysis) while simultaneously increasing the share of LDL cholesterol.
Coenzyme Q10 and cholesterol
Naturally produced in the liver, they share the same biochemical processes of synthesis. Consequently, by reducing the synthesis of cholesterol (inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase by statins), the production of coenzyme Q10 is also unblocked, which is essential for energy production and antioxidant properties. Therefore, the reduction of coenzyme Q10 given by statins can cause an alteration of the membrane with consequent damage to the cells. By administering a coenzyme Q10 supplement together with statins, it is possible not only to prevent this reduction, but also to reduce an increase in coenzyme Q10 levels.

How to use
1 tablet a day to be taken during or after a meal, to promote the absorption of the active components. It is not recommended to take it on an empty stomach. Follow a standard cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment.

Do not use during pregnancy and lactation. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of the reach of children under 3 years of age. Supplements are not intended as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not take in case of hypersensitivity to the product or excipients.
