The Pomegranate (Punica Granatum L.)

The pomegranate is a plant that belongs to the Punicaceae family, genus Punica, Punica granatum species, native to western Asia. The characteristic fruits, red and with an acid taste, contain powerful antioxidants of a polyphenolic nature, ellagitannins, including punicalagins and ellagic acid. The latter possesses a strong antimutagenic activity, which is opposed to the genetic mutation that is a prelude to the development of tumors. The extract, which derives from the whole pomegranate fruit, including arils (the outer part of the seed that grows together with it, fleshy and colored), peel and seeds, is standardized in ellagic acid and other punicosides, including punicalagins.

The synergistic combination of these ellagitannins peculiar to pomegranate distinguishes the product as a powerful natural antioxidant agent. Ellagitannins are complex compounds capable of releasing high quantities of ellagic acid, a substance with multiple protective properties.

Directions for use:
