Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional disorder of the gastrointestinal district, supported by neuroinflammation of the intestinal mucosa. IBS frequently originates and amplifies over time due to the effect of multiple nociceptive triggering stimuli - postinfectious, stressful, hormonal, nutritional - which modify the ability of the intestinal mucosa to correctly metabolize a particular class of endogenous lipid mediators, physiologically responsible for the control of intestinal motility and of visceral sensitivity. Characterized by the infiltration of the intestinal mucosa by inflammatory cells such as mast cells and T lymphocytes, IBS is frequently accompanied by alterations of the riverbed in the form of constipation or diarrhea, and the presence of abdominal pain.
Mastocol is a food intended for special medical purposes, containing the patented association of two active ingredients present in foods: Palmitoylethanolamide, in micronized form (PEA-m), and Polydatin. PEA-m has been shown to be able to favor the maintenance of a correct function of the intestinal mucosa, and to contribute to the restoration of a correct visceral sensitivity, counteracting abdominal pain.
The association of PEA-m with Polydatin promotes the physiological control of mucosal homeostasis. In subjects suffering from IBS and under medical supervision, dietary supplementation with Mastocol was found to be effective in controlling intestinal pain, constipation and diarrheal forms.
Mastocol is to be used under medical supervision, for the diet of subjects suffering from irritable bowel syndrome with constipation or diarrhea, and in the presence of abdominal pain.

On medical advice, 2-3 tablets per day.
