Mitituss Oral Suspension 4 mg/ml Cough Sedative 200 ml

Oral suspension based on Cloperastine fendizoate.

Therapeutic indications

Mitituss Oral Suspension is used as a cough suppressant.

Dosage and Posology

The drug should be taken according to the following doses and methods:

• Adults: 5 ml three times a day
• Children: between 2 and 4 years: 2 ml twice a day; between 4 and 7 years: 3 ml twice a day; between 7 and 15 years: 5 ml twice a day.

A 2-3-5 ml calibrated measuring cup is attached to the package.

Overdose

In case of overdose, perform gastric lavage within a short time and keep the patient calm by minimizing any sign of central overexcitation; eventually resort to the use of benzodiazepines.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
• Generally contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation
• Due to the absence of studies in very early childhood, the drug is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.

Side effects

Dry mouth and mild somnolence have been reported at higher doses but disappear rapidly with dose reduction. Due to the presence of xylitol at a concentration of 20 g / 100 ml, Mitituss 4 mg / ml Oral suspension may have a mild laxative effect. The caloric value of xylitol is 2.4 Kcal / g. It can cause allergic reactions, even delayed ones.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Although toxicity studies performed during pregnancy in animals have not shown teratogenic activity and fetal toxicity, the risk of harmful effects on the fetus following cloperastine cannot be excluded. Therefore, it is a good precaution not to take MITITUSS in the first three months of pregnancy and, in the subsequent period of pregnancy, to take it only in case of real need and under the direct supervision of the doctor. As a precaution, its use is not recommended even during breastfeeding.
