Astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis
ASTAXANTINE is a formulation based on Haematococcus pluvialis standardized in astaxanthin. Haematococcus pluvialis is a microalgae of the Chlamydomonadeae family, a particularly concentrated natural source of astaxanthin.
Astaxanthin is a xanthophyll (a class of carotenoids) widespread among aquatic animals (fish and crustaceans) to which it gives a characteristic pink pigmentation. Astaxanthin has a slightly polar structure which allows it to assume a specific orientation in the membrane.
