In studies on the laboratory animal model, a fish classified as Brachydanio Rerio more commonly known as Zebrafish, for research on the birth and development of tumors, scientist Pier Mario Biava found that while the tumors implanted in Zebrafish's organism grew and proliferated, implanted in its eggs they were somehow hindered until they disappeared. The scientist looked for which substances inside the Zebrafish eggs had these properties. He found that some protein substances inside eggs play precisely the role of programming the stem cells to make them take the right path of development. Thus, assuming that cancer cells originate from altered stem cells, he understood that through the administration of these substances at very low concentrations it is possible to reprogram cancer stem cells.
